Lip Gloss Lies

Three best friends, Britney, Christina, and Kelsey, get caught up in chaos during a dramatic three-way phone call. Britney lies about Kelsey cheating with Christina’s boyfriend, setting off a chain of insults, secrets, and betrayals. As Christina and Kelsey dig deeper, they realize Britney’s been playing them both, and the two team up to shut her down. By the end, Britney’s left alone, outsmarted by her own scheme.

Director Biography - Alexandra Erin Brand

Alexandra (Alex) Brand grew up in Los Angeles and is currently a high school sophomore at Geffen Academy at UCLA. Her love for filmmaking started in 2016 when her dad gave her his old monitor, and she’s been creating ever since. Over the years, she’s directed home movies, school projects, and even ventured into animation. Alex also shares her work on YouTube, where her channels have gained over 18,000 subscribers. She’s excited to keep making films that entertain and inspire others.

Director Statement

The idea for this film came to me while rewatching Mean Girls (2004) for what felt like the millionth time. When I saw the iconic three-way-call scene, I thought, “What if I created something with that same energy and style of editing but made it my own?” That’s how Lip Gloss Lies was born. Inspired by classic high school drama, this short explores the messy world of friendships, secrets, and lies—all unfolding over a tense yet comedic phone call.
