Liminal Visions
The disruptive mobility of cyclones interrupts existing orientations of communication and transmission. As the structural parity of digital fields gets ruptured by gusts of grains and glitches, fractal codes of degeneration resonate across time and space. With climatological imbalances occurring more frequently and ominously over the years, this film tries to visualise the coded signals of our deteriorating ecological condition, transported from untold spaces by cyclonic storms.
“St. Louis’ Cyclone Blues” was recorded by Lonnie Johnson in 1927 after a massive tornado devastated St. Louis in Missouri, United States. Almost a century later, a similar cyclone in another part of the world brings back distorted echoes of its mourning with the consciousness of impending climate change.
