Born on the west coast of Norway, aspiring writer/director Martin O. Eiken has attended Danvik Folkehøgskole in 2017/18, where he wrote and directed 3 short films, one of which won a small-time award, and one of which got 19 thousand views on YouTube. He went on to attend Fagskolen Kristiania’s Film class in Bergen in 2019/20, but became severely ill and had to return home. He then attended Fagskolen Kristiania’s Film class in Oslo in 2024. He writes actively and hopes like many to break out in the Norwegian film scene in the coming years.
I wrote Limbo shortly after my 3rd psychotic episode. The story revolves around drug induced psychosis and attempts to give insight into what psychosis is like, and the horrible things that could happen when we decide to use recreational drugs. For the wrong person, taking any recreational drug can have disastrous consequences. The story deals also with major philosophical questions about existence and consciousness, and the nature of dreams.
This story is very personal to me, and certainly grew into fruition because of my own experiences with psychosis and the ideas and thoughts that interested me during this time. I hope to write and direct films in the future that focus on similar themes.
