Short Film Corner
I opened my eyes to this world as the son of a construction worker and a housewife in 1985. Acting school was the most important turning point in my personal development. Free books, musical instruments and tea. After graduation, I acted in theatre and film. I directed stageplays in different parts of Turkey also went on a tour with our plays which allowed me to get to know many people from different backgrounds. I currently produce web series and short films. My name is Samet Karaman, I am chasing my dreams which started on the floor of a acting school stage twenty centimetres above ground.
I overcame the emptiness that formed after my father left us, when I got in to theatre school. Theatre, literature and music taught me dreaming about what I can leave behind me instead of worrying about what problems life brings. Father of my father used to confront me about going to theatre school and tell me how empty my endeavours are. Isa’s story is one of the stories of young people like myself and others. Some of them postpones their dreams in order to work and provide a better future to their brothers, like me. Some of them can’t hang in there and commit suicide. Some of them are braver than most of us, they pack up and leave.
