Charlie Hicks was born and raised in a small town in Arizona, and has been living and working for the last 10 years in The Netherlands. Charlie has close to 30 years of experience working in radio and television broadcasting and has been teaching electronic media and media management for more than 15 years. While Charlie has worked primarily as on-air talent in radio and television over the years, he began writing, producing, shooting and editing short videos during the Covid-19 pandemic. This is his first short film.
My intent with Lily Luck was to make a film that is both extremely relatable and far fetched. The theme of feeling trapped in an unfulfilling life is fairly universal, but the way Lily deals with the situation is very unique. I hope the audience finds themselves connecting with the characters and their actions while at the same time questioning the choices that are made and the reasoning behind them. This movie deals with the dangers of allowing yourself to fall into a rut and settling for less than what you deserve. I believe it’s important to take charge of your life and make changes before it’s too late and I hope Lily Luck can convey that message as well..
