Taylan Elani Aryee-Jones is a Georgia born native who recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Even so, she is no stranger to the film industry. For the past 10 years, she has worked in various projects while developing her love and passion for film, writing, music, and design. She has studied various instruments and produced and written two of her own installation pieces. While in high school, she held a media conference with the Alliance for Climate Education, where she held a panel on using multimedia to educate others on climate change education. In high school, she became one of three head producers and a key writer for two and a half seasons of the student-made show. In her four years of college, she produced over 25 films and worked over 130 separate productions. After college, she plans to continue working as a screenwriter until she gains enough hours to apply for the Writer's Guild of America.
Looking back, I've taken all the things I've loved and try to implement them into the constant knowledge I've acquired while venturing into the industry. Through my art and technique, I've discovered my inspirations come from a blend of the small items I enjoyed throughout my childhood. My love for films formed from constant weekends at AMC plus seeing Blockbuster and library shelves saturated with every kind of genre my little kid heart could hope for. The passion for the diverse ideas and stories from various mangas and animes- better-stated thousands of chapters and hours- pairs right along with the joy I felt going through countless build your own adventure books.
This piece is a section of a small anthology I'm creating. It is meant to be a cautionary tale based series meant for teens and above. For a very long time, I've been inspired by the gothic nature of manga artist Emi Ishikawa's work, "Screaming Lessons," also known as "Zekkyou Gakkyuu." I loved how they could teach such real-world ideas and believe in a light-hearted story- while still managing to add unbelievable gore or psychological gut-wrenches. I attempted to create a story with a heart, suspense, and a little psychological torture in this story.
