Colin grew up on the Central Coast of California. He caught the acting bug at a local theatre company at the age of seven where he met his group of lifelong friends. Year after year of running around the backstage of the theatre, rehearsing, performing, and causing trouble, this small group of friends became known as "The Theatre Rats." When “The Rats” weren’t on stage, they were at each other’s houses creating scenes and characters. After his buddy, James, grabbed his dad’s VHS camera from the closet, a new door opened for them. They’ve made countless films over the years from pre-teens into adulthood (a lot of the early ones still on the shelves collecting dust at James’ parents house). Colin wrote this film and wanted to direct it for many personal reasons. The biggest reason being to tell a great story working and surrounding himself with the people he loves. He wanted to bring back the feeling of his younger years. He formed a production team, a group of actors, and a crew, all of which he had personal connections with, and are experts in their field. He asked fellow "Theatre Rat," James (now a professional editor, Director, and DP), to grab the camera, and away they went. It couldn’t have been a better experience and he can’t wait for the next adventure.
Li’l Chit Chat began as tiny videos of Colin and Li’l Dude’s hilarious daily lives, and voices. As these videos created delight among its viewers, Colin began to formulate a storyline to showcase his relationship with the cutest dog in the world, who also happens to be the sassiest.
As soon as he began writing the script it became clear that this was a special story that needed to be shared on a bit larger scale.
Finding your own happiness, whether alone, with friends, significant others, or four-legged family members is imperative to growth and personal success. In this case, dogs are the therapists that guide us to these places...and we hope they bring you a li’l joy too.
This production also brought childhood friends together, of more than 20 years, to help shoot it. Having a cast and crew full of dear friends, focused on their crafts, created an atmosphere that we will aspire to have on every set here on out. Filmmaking should be joyful, hard sure, but filled with magic and laughter and story. This is why we do what we do. We are not interested in making movies, we are interested in telling stories.
