Lift

When serial temp Olivia (Lucy Durack) steps into an elevator for her 46th job this century, she needs to make this one stick. Inside she meets straight-laced Simon (Duncan Ragg) preparing for a nerve-wracking rooftop marriage proposal. Despite a disastrous first impression, confusing office politics, interfering colleagues (Mark Coles Smith and Vivienne Garrett) and Simon’s impending nuptials, these two might just fall in love, one elevator ride at a time.

Director Statement

LIFT is an incredibly entertaining web series within the confines of an elevator. The natural comedic abilities of Lucy and Duncan is the foundation of the series and all stylistic and creative decisions were made with a view to support and strengthen their performances.
Having directed theatre for the past decade my biggest strength as a director is my ability to work with actors and direct performance; this is the aspect of the job where I am the most experienced and equipped.
The extremely defined parameters of the series meant that I had the opportunity to hone the other aspects of my craft in a confined creative space. I relished the challenge of making the world of LIFT so much more than the inside of an elevator. Shooting entirely within the confines of an elevator forced me to be inventive with design and shot choices to ensure that the series had movement, pace and originality.
