Life of a fish

Life of a fish
2020, HD-Film, Colour, Sound, 02:00 min.

In days gone by, fishing was done to feed people. The animals were caught, processed and eaten. Today fishing is and is practiced as a sport. There are fish farms and fishing ponds in which the fish are bred to hang on hooks. This nature-culture conflict was the starting point for shooting this video. The question of the meaningfulness of a fish life - which only revolves around being caught - is at the center of this parody.

Director Statement

As an artist and art historian, I am primarily concerned with issues of sustainability and the human world of emotions. My focus is on sculpture and film. I entered the world of art through my education in sculpturing. My path led me from working with hammer and chisel to experimenting with disposable materials. When I studied art at the university Mozarteum in Innsbruck I caught up in the medium of film, which I've been very enthusiastic about ever since.
