Life in the river
This is about the Zayandeh-Rood River, the largest river in central Iran and a major source of water for the country. Zayandeh-Rood passes through the ancient city of Isfahan. For the past 17 years this important river has been running bone-dry for the majority of time due to drought and mismanagement. Only for a few weeks in a year they let the water flow between its banks. This is when life comes back to Isfahanis as this river is proving to be worthy of the meaning of its name: “The life-giving river”. Director: Marjan Riahi
