The kayankerni is a Marine Protected Area, located off kalkudah in batticaloa District East Coast of Sri Lanka which is home to a high diversity and abundance of marine life including 207 species of fish observed up to date and highly popular among local and foreign visitors for its beautiful unspoiled natural beaches with extremely shallow crystal clear water and exotic coral reefs.
This documentary shows how Kayankerni biodiversity and community livelihoods evolve over time.

Dino balasiri is a filmmaker based in Srilanka. Dino works as a Video consultant on a research firm. and is also a Researcher based in Kayankerny Marine sanctuary, and Freelance Editor. Dino sometimes gets ideas for the characters in his films, from his Researcher experience. He is currently a Development officer in the Ministry of home affairs Srilanka. He studied at university of jaffna graduated in 2018 . Dino directed a short drama film, Suvanam (Heaven) in 2016, which was selected by five film festivals (including Bangladesh children film festival, Mumbai dadasaheb film festival, jaffna cinema festival) .
Dino is highly inspired by Andrei tarkovsky and his film aesthetics and Albert Camus writings.
Dino is selected for best script in Agenda 14 pitching session in 2019 .Dino enjoyed his script writing sessions. His dream is to direct a feature film which holds a poetic experience to the audience.
