Biography for Bob Williams
Bob Williams has been telling stories about “Good People Doing Good Things” for the last 10 years. A child of the 60s, he was determined to return to Changing the World after taking a few (30) years off to spend time in the Health Care Industry in numerous roles. He loves to note the “logical career progression from Actuary to filmmaker”.
His films focus almost exclusively on telling stories of the wonderful nonprofit organizations that do indeed change the world. His films have been seen on three continents, and have won a number of awards at various Film Festivals, including the audience award at the NY/LA Film Festival and best PSA at his local San Luis Obispo International Film Festival. Transformation, a film shot entirely in Kolkata, India, won Best Documentary Short at the Love International Film Festival.
Nonetheless, Bob strives to keep Film Festivals and awards in perspective. He hopes his films illuminate the Good in the World, and inspire others to follow in those good works
My current project, LifeSaver: The Story of SLO Noor Foundation, utilizes my health care background to shed a light on our Health Care Crisis, and one community’s successful efforts to provide Health Care for ALL through local action. Health Care is a right, not a privilege, and we cannot wait for our fractured government to solve this crisis. Such is the power of film to dramatically illustrate one way to tackle this critical issue of our times.
Since the film was completed, the health care crisis has added a new dimension. The films been update to reflect to impact of Covid-19 on Noor and this issue. Sadly, COVID-19 will be mitigated long before our health care crisis of the uninsured is solved.
