Director Biography - David Moore

David was born in Cape Town, South Africa and started his career in the 80’s in the corporate world. He then ventured into film and TV and managed to produce some memorable and award-winning shows and films.

He received a ”South African Oscar” for his first short film as well as for creativity, and photography. He then created the most successful and longest running travel show, "Going Nowhere Slowly" before venturing back into movies. He wrote, produced, and directed two features, with the third about to be released.

The first, "Once Upon a Road Trip" received an all Africa Oscar, presented by Danny Glover in Nigeria. His next movie, "Snaaks Genoeg" (Funny Enough) was nominated for best comedy in Africa – it was runner up.

His current film, "Drunks Have Whiter Teeth", follows experiences he had while being conscripted to fight in the “Border War” in Namibia. It was shot in Namibia and South Africa.

Director Statement

When handed the script from Rick Clise I immediately felt the short should be a bit cartoony. It needed our leads in pyjamas in a moody room with specific colours to tie it all together. With guidance from Director of Photography Joseph Clarke we went for a red and blue colour theme.

Our cast made the journey really easy as they totally got into their roles and very naturally brought the characters to life.

This film has a heart of gold and will leave all who watch it feeling a little happier.

UPDATE 31 JULY 2023
