Letters for Amena

On a crossing from the Atlantic, the film connects women from the Lagos Region to Berlin, the city where the artist Moana Mayall, daughter of the writer and activist Amena Mayall, who died in 1986, in the city of Cabo Frio, lives today. The work, which consists of the production of letters in relation to the works left by Amena, reveals a literary collection still unknown by the public. The letters are responses to the political legacy of Amena Mayall, in her fight for the environment in the Lagos Region, manifestos written while detained by DOI-COD in Rio de Janeiro, during the period of the military dictatorship in Brazil, covering topics such as gender, social justice and the environment.
