Born in Kherson, Ukraine, Les entered photography as a hobbyist in the early 2000s. His educational background includes Master’s degree in German literature and language from Shevchenko University of Kyiv. After working for several years as a curator for international students at his alma mater, he abruptly left the field and turned to photography.
Les graduated from Victor Marushchenko School of Photography and began freelance work as a photojournalist and documentary photographer. Since 2011 he started to cooperate with Yahad—In Unum research organisation, documenting the testimonies of witnesses of the Holocaust.
During his career Les took part in group exhibitions in Ukraine and worldwide, including Berlin, Hamburg, Paris and Los Angeles. Les freelances extensively and works on his own video documentary.
