Zuri Rinpoche is a passionate filmmaker, traveller and an avid photographer from the kingdom of Bhutan. Rinpoche has an innate love and appreciation for arts, culture, photography and sculpture, elements strongly reflected in stories that he tells through his films.
‘Prophesy – Terma’, Rinpoche’s debut directorial film won numerous accolades and awards, including the ‘Platinum Award’ at the Asia Pacific International Filmmaker Festival and Awards (Indonesia) in 2016, ‘Best Narrative Feature 2017’ at the Socially Relevant Film Festival (New York), and an official selection at the ‘Spirit Film Festival’ (Israel) in 2016.
‘Lemo’, a film titled after the name of my late sister and inspired by her, is a visual presentation of women dealing with depression in their bid to fulfill the expectations of society, struggling to balance between expectations and reality, and their desire to break free from social obligations and pressure.
