Director Biography - Charulatha B Rangarajan

Charulatha completed her PGDM in actuarial sciences with a few papers from IFOA UK. Currently she is working as an Assistant director for Director Mysskin. Her Directorial Debut was with the Short film “Kadhayin Naayagi.” She has had professional working experience as an Underwriter in Royal sundaram Insurance Ltd for close to 2 years. She has Acted in a few short films (Casting, Aram seidhu pazhagu ) & feature films (6 athyayam, yaar ivargal, yen peyar anandhan &goli soda 2) She is a professional dancer. She had participant in Vijay TV reality show KOD & won best female dancer. She has also won in many dance competitions organized in and around Chennai. Best speaker in reality show in Vijay tv (Neeya Naana)
She has been very active for various social causes. Because of this strong belief she has also volunteered many a times for many social activities. This belief has also prompted her to donate her hair twice through Madat trust Mumbai. She is very passionate about music and takes rest in its soothing effect.

Director Statement

Kadhayin Naayagi is my debutant project as a director. As a professional in actuary, this field was new. Though I have acted in a few films, direction was something which was not even in my wildest dreams because it is something that requires a huge amount of creativity & responsibility. It scared me.
Then I met Saranya who plays the lead in this film & she used to tell me the horrors of survival in the film industry & the things she has to go through just because of her DARK COMPLEXION.
I felt bad, helpless. One day when she said, "IF only I was fair skinned like you, I would have become a big star." This triggered in me an urge to tell this to the world, thus “Kadhayin naayagi” was formed as an idea & hence I became a director. I have used that same scene which triggered my new found passion in the film.
Direction was a new & exhilarating experience, it was a one man show from the time I started writing the script till the private screening. I thoroughly enjoyed & loved it despite getting very less help from others. Now I have the confidence that I can do anything independently.
