Yannis Karpouzis is an Athens-based filmmaker and visual artist. He is also a PhD candidate (Ionian University, Royal Danish Academy) in Art Theory and Aesthetics. He has been awarded the Newcomer film-maker award by the Greek Film Center in 22nd Thessaloniki film festival for the creative documentary, “Nikos Karouzos: Poems on the Tape Recorder” among other festival awards. His art works have been presented in major Greek and international institutions (Artgenève, New museum of New York – Deste Foundation, Benaki Museum, Rencontres d’Arles, Association of Icelandic Artists, Jeune Création, PHotoEspana - Centro de Arte Alcobendas). In 2023 he was selected in Sarajevo Film Festival Talents Program and received the Pack & Pitch award for his next feature length essay-film, "Searching for Thule". In 2025 he got invited to Berlinale Talents. His projects explore areas associated with political identities, social imbalance and contemporary conflicts.
