Leave the Doll in the Car
From an old email written by the director, wishing not to be gay, João Victor modifies his childhood’s pictures using collage to explore LGBTQIAP+ fantasies of dissident identities that clash with conservative society imaginary. The director is motivated by realizing that some feelings are shared among people in the community.

João Victor Almeida is an independent brazilian filmmaker and graduated from the Fluminense Federal University in Cinema and Audiovisual. Red Invite (2017), is his first short film as director and screenwriter. The director also comes from a career in production designer and art direction in independent films. Currently, he also works in the Brazilian audiovisual market as an art producer for streaming series and films.
