After just moving house with her best friend Hannah Miller, horror vlogger Jackie Cooper starts to notice strange things happening, centring around her garage. After staying in the house, a short while, it becomes very clear there is an evil presence that doesn’t want Jackie there at all. She tries to continue her vlog channel as normal, but also updating everyone on the happenings at the house as things start to get worse and something is telling her to leave. She finally tries to confront whatever evil, ominous presence is there, however, it gets what it wants in the end. Hannah arrives home from her boyfriend’s house, to find Jackie’s camera dropped, still recording, but no sign of Jackie. She takes the camera back to her room, opens, and begins to watch her vlogs.

Director / Producer / Editor Danaë Grieef is in her final year of studying Film, Television and Animation at Deakin University. She has been credited as a Writer / Director / Producer in a short horror film, “The Other Half”, as well as Writer / Director / Producer / Editor in a documentary, “Happy Wasted”. Coming from an extensive screen acting background, there is a unique understanding of how to work with actors and how things work on both sides of the camera, from being in front of it, to directing actors, and then the technical side of editing.
Writing scripts is new to me, and I just had this idea that I loved, so I just wrote and wrote until I had a first draft. I had some of outside help from a friend of mine who just completed his Honours in Film and TV at Swinburne, and having that person to bounce off was essential in the development. As mentioned earlier, I learnt very early on that writing what you know is key, hence why Jackie is a young girl interested in the paranormal; that resonates with my own personality. This script due to Covid guidelines is limited in what could be written, however with the people and resources still available to me, I still believe this can be a successful short film project.
