Le Chau is a Vietnamese American film producer, writer, and director born in Sai Gon, Vietnam.
She competed in five 48HFPs and received nominations for Best Female Director in 2015 and Best POC film in 2016. Furthermore, Le Chau has achieved notable recognition for her work, including being a Finalist of the Hedy Lamarr Innovation and Achievement Award 2022, Winner of the Panavision New Filmmaker Program 2022, and Winner of the Jack Nicholson Prize in Screenwriting 2022.
Her latest film, "Doldrums", has garnered significant acclaim both in the United States and internationally. It won the Best Student Film award at the Ponza Film Festival 2023 in Italy and was selected for prestigious events such as the Asian World Film Festival 2023 and the New Filmmaker Los Angeles 2024, among others.
A standout aspect of Le Chau's story is her decision to join the United States Army in 2020 to enhance her leadership skills as a film director. As an Asian woman in the Army, she challenges stereotypes and proves her ability to lead and excel in roles often perceived as traditionally male-dominated.
Her academic background includes graduating with honors from the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television in 2023.
