Born and raised within the guard towers of a maximum security prison in East Texas, it all began for me making zombie films in the piney woods with my friends. When the sirens went off indicating we had an escaped inmate, I would sneak out to grab that all-important "production value" of all the men searching on horseback with their shotguns.
I figured out young that if you want to make art alone, well then you should be a poet, because making movies takes dozens of people working together. That is why I love it so much.
I lost my parents young which left me clinging to friendships stronger than most of my peers. Gathering artists for my movies gave me a sense of family and belonging. To me, the bonding that occurs while making a movie is extremely magical and important.
"McConadilla" is my first "real" movie with a budget, allbeit "ultra-low" for most, to me it may as well be the bigtime baby, a dream come true, although based on it's subject matter more like a fever dream! I'm excited to tour this movie and meet all the other filmmakers out there with stories like mine.
