Director Biography - Skyler Barrett

An Atlanta native, Skyler's love of all things film and television, and her interest in creating complex, layered characters, started at an early age. After being accepted into Columbia College Hollywood in 2007, she made the move to Los Angeles. Many opportunities followed, including internships in Casting and Production at CBS Studios ("The Young and the Restless"), ABC Studios ("Grey's Anatomy, "Scandal", "Prime Suspect"), Colbert Mento Casting ("Step Up 3D, "Warm Bodies", "Destination Wedding"), and casting several student films for Columbia College Hollywood.

After graduating with a BFA in Film/TV Editing, she went on to cast commercials and book extras at Prime Casting, write and direct her own short films, edit other filmmakers' projects on a freelance basis, and created the award-winning dramedy web series, Reckless Juliets, now streaming on Amazon Prime. The series presented an interesting challenge for the Director due to the complexity of the characters. The episodes range from devastating drama dealing with suicide and mental illness to dark comedy dealing with body issues and drug habits among foul mouthed, sarcastic teenage girls. The series went on to screen at several festivals including Hollyweb, NYC Web Fest, Vancouver Web Fest, Female Filmmakers Fuse Film Festival, Mammoth Film Festival, Hollywood Comedy Shorts, Playhouse West Film Festival, and many more.

Currently, she is working on writing a full length Pilot for Reckless Juliets to pitch to streaming services, is an on set DIT for two popular Kin Community YouTube series, and continues to work as a freelance Director, Editor, Colorist, and Casting Director.
