17-year-old teenage girl Matilda lives in a small town in Germany and suffers from severe depression. After a suicide attempt, her mother Kerstin is more worried than ever, but it soon becomes evident, that all her efforts to help her daughter are misguided. Led by Kerstin’s own urge to comply with society’s image of the perfect family, she turns a blind eye to her daughter’s illness.
At a school dance, Matilda meets Imani, and the teens fall in love almost instantly. For a short moment, everything seems just right. But Imani soon finds herself overwhelmed with Matilda’s depression and can’t understand her girlfriend’s utter despair…

Director Biography - Leoni Buchner

Leoni Buchner (*1999) studiert Filmwissenschaft an der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz. Ihren ersten Kurzfilm setzte sie bereits in ihrem ersten Semester um, seitdem arbeitet sie kontinuierlich an neuen Kurzfilmprojekten. Leoni Buchner beschäftigen female-centered narratives, die abseits der Norm stattfinden.
