Lauren Z. Ray is a director with a passion for storytelling that began in her hometown of Logansport, Indiana. As a kid, she spent countless hours making videos with her family’s camcorder, recruiting friends for her imaginative and unique productions. After high school, she moved to New York City to study acting at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, later heading to Los Angeles, where she appeared in various TV shows and commercials.
In 2017, Lauren stepped behind the camera for the first time, directing her debut documentary, Welcome to Monterey. The film brought her back to Indiana, where she captured the essence of her family and the small-town life they lived. Now, with her second feature documentary, Winter Fantasy, she once again returns home and this time to follow the story of Logansport High School’s fall musical, weaving a heartfelt narrative of community, nostalgia, and the magic of theater.
