LATITUDE

LATITUDE is a poetic short documentary film that follows four daring young women to the 79th parallel, under 700 miles from the North Pole to rediscover themselves amidst Svalbard's epic arctic ocean sailing, ice mountain climbs, and ski descents.

Shelby Dyer, Anna Marno, Brittney Ziebell & Jessica Baker are all former competitive skiers & they revisit what skiing means to them to find a new curiosity and love for a sport they've known all their lives.

The project is supported by STIO, POC, DYNASTAR, STOCKLI, SKIDA, KLEAN KANTEEN, HONEY STINGER, JACKSON HOLE BABEFORCE, LOOK, LANGE, BIG AGNES, FREESKIER, SWIX, MAREMOTRICE, and WINTER WILDLANDS ALLIANCE.

Director Biography - Wesley Walker

Wesley Walker is an Afro-Latino Mexican-born producer and director. A Stanford University alum and former competitive long-distance runner, his work spans commercials for brands such as Tesla, Adidas & Google, music videos for Sony Music & Roc Nation artists and now outdoor documentary with a keen focus on bringing to light the beauty of culture, the majesty of Mother Nature and our need to protect and honor her. As a cinematographer as well, Wesley often lenses his own projects and goes to great lengths to bring a beautiful aesthetic to films he is blessed to work on.

Director Statement

LATITUDE is a film crafted to represent and honor the power of women in the outdoors. Too often, outdoor films are ego-driven, peak-chasing and often male-dominated narratives that leave no room for the poetry, feminity, and beauty of Mother Nature and the daring women who also go to the ends of the Earth to find adventure and joy in the wild. My prayer is this film reaches audiences widely and inspires them to reach further, grow, and pursue their own journeys in the great outdoors.
