Lizzy was born in Cuernavaca, Mexico, where she spent most of her childhood attending a bilingual school and an institute for dance. Her family later relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area where she continued her dance training. After high school, she moved to Southern California and had the privilege of attending CalArts as a dance major. Lizzy has always admired every aspect of the arts, so it wasn't long before she realized she, too, had a passion for photography. After she was hired as an assistant for the institute photographer at school, she quickly discovered how both dance and photography could converge.
Lizzy recently graduated from California Institute of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance. She continues to live in Southern California working as a freelance artist in both dance and photography.
My mission is to connect dance and photography, two art media that create a world where both languages coexist. It validates a drive for collaboration between artistic disciplines and challenges the view of dance through a photographer's lens and vice versa.
Film and video has played a huge role in my photography work as I create an intention to broaden my artistic eye. Being able to allow movement come to life through my practice of framing shots with dance photography, I follow each dancer on their movement journey as if we were performing a duet.
