First responders are perceived as people of grit and resilience, guided by rational decision-making. But the road to becoming such is not made in a day and there is a price to pay. We wanted to show two opposites of the same coin, the lonely, cold, veteran confronted with the new and naive rookie. Their differences also show through other aspects of their lives as religion, family, and even immigration status. But despite their differences, both women seek the same thing: belonging and acceptance.
