L'amour est un oiseau rebelle
"You know that night when you decide to take your girlfriend to your relatives, and they tell your worst anecdotes, the ones that embarrass you the most? This is how Alessandro feels, mocked by his father and bearer of a secret greater than himself, but the mere sound of music will lead him to rediscover every one of his demons."

Daniele Esposito is a filmmaker and videomaker. Since he was a child he used to tell everything through images, appreciating anyone who could express his opinion through an art form.Graduated from the Istituto Cinematografico Michelangelo Antonioni in Busto Arsizio, besides being a director, Daniele is a video editor, colourist, director of photography, director of the Spettacolaree film lab and one of the members of the podcast "9mm il cinema che fa colpo" . His short film "Assuefazione" was presented at the "Lecco cineincittà" festival.
The main reason that pushed me to realize this story is out of necessity. Ever since I was a child, I felt that I could not adequately express myself in words, I reasoned, and I described in images; after having known myself better, I understood that whatever I wanted to say to the world, I could do it through my way of seeing. This short movie is a necessity: it is a request, coming from the world, that asks you to say something you don’t want to, so the best way to do it, is to stage it, but in my way, hiding it from anyone who looks at it and hoping that the viewer will find an answer or inspiration to be able to tell the world who he is, through his way of expressing himself, whether it be a book, painting, music or cinema...My point of view about the characters is personal, each of them contains a part of the people I know or of me; every story was written in detail, digging into the soul of the character, in his past, digging into my past, and drawing from what I learned and that led me to be what I am and what I see in the world around me.
What made me understand that this story could have been both a huge milestone and a challenge for my professional career, is that it forced me to dig into myself, take every element that makes up my personality, see and analyze every part of it. It challenged me to overcome something that made me afraid and start to live with that part of me that I sometimes tried to keep hidden. I chose to represent a combination of narrative worlds, set in reality, and an inner imagination of the protagonist because I believe that the type of path to awareness in a similar situation is an inner journey. The choice to imagine a mental museum has given me the opportunity to best express both the emotion of the human being, and the nudity of the stylistic canons of art history. Art has become an essential part of my life, the fact of taking artworks and changing them, maybe ruin or make them worse, but making them mine, made me grab for each one of them, a piece of the character. It made me analyze it, understanding why that story had to be represented like that and why there could be nothing else but that.
I wish every person who struggles to say something to the world, to find his way of expressing himself, as this work is doing for me, even if everyone doesn’t understand it. The best thing is to challenge yourself, bringing out everything that is in you, so that you can feel better.
