Coco´s Moon

Coco's Moon is a feature-length fiction film that tells the story of a man who falls in love with the Moon.
What hidden desires manifest in a being who seeks love in the cosmos?
A dramatic comedy that flirts with magical realism and absurdity, typical of the Selenophilic relationship of Coco - our protagonist - and the chaos in the family and social world.

Director Statement

“…Something like having a small boat, getting 30 people on board, going out to drift at night, in unfavorable weather, it is always like that for us, not having a map or a compass rose or food for the entire crew, with a lot of doubts about whether the wood will survive the first wave or some sea creature will eat us during Odyssey…” Why do they leave?
What need to leave everything behind?
To get to where?
It will be, once again, like a small belief, which continues to move the subtle internally over the dense.
Like Coco, we took chances. We made a film -practically- without money.
8 months of pre-production.
3 weeks of recording.
6 months of post.
A feature film was made in Tandil, made up of 100 local artists, including technicians and artists of the scene. I dare say that there is more vocation than profession. There is a little bug of
cinema, pulp, chicha, enjoyment. The sociopolitical contextual circumstance of the year 2023-2024 does not take away the cinephile drive of a few in a small city in the province of Buenos Aires, Tandil, a cradle to house the audiovisual and acting art pronounced by the Faculty of Arts and the cultural field of theaters that support the vanguard of culture.
And about the story I maintain that there is an intention to empathize with the protagonist and it is given because sometimes it is very difficult to find a purpose in our life. Coco shows that self-love is what guarantees the full purpose of survival. Within the psychological framework, The Moon is the one who saves Coco, - rather her unconscious - creating an idea of survival because if she does not obtain love from someone, in the way that she has been attracting reality, erroneously casualizing: she dies, she commits suicide. That is why, intelligently, his natural instinct saves him and the comedy is provoked by the irrationality of the selenophilic situation. No one would allow within a family context - not even society itself - that one of its members has a relationship with the Moon.
Being witnesses as spectators of such an absurdity, allows for the creation of a degree of questioning... where will all this go? To what extent?
I like to think that the public can get hooked on their contemplative inner places, that they maintain a personal revisionism as they watch the film, and wonder to what extent and what is their quixotic act, what would one do to dismantle the structure that keeps us tied to this world in an impersonal way?
There is something in all this fictional and conflicted line that the protagonist runs through that reflects the very act of quixotic act - mobilization and interest of an entire city - that was provoked
during the genesis of the film, and subsequent development. Recognizing that there is no ceiling for the drive of life in those of us who immerse ourselves in a creative process. We are called in life to the purpose of what is inherent to the naturally collective, in this case: cinema. And that, if this game were not there among us, we would probably be staring at the moon. I invite you to enter the World of Coco, and I hope that this film will be one more tool - like a grain of sand - to continue raising awareness among those who have the opportunity to see it and thus collaborate with new forms of connection.
