Certain short films entered in the contest may be screened at earlier events to raise awareness of the festival. A showing at earlier events isn’t a guarantee that that film shown has gained entry into the film festival.

A completed entry form and fee must be submitted with each project to be considered in the LCIFF. Multiple submissions by a Production Company and/or director are accepted and encouraged, but a separate completed form and fee must accompany each film.

All films entered must be in English or have working English subtitles.

All entry forms must be signed by each director and/or production company owner. Unsigned or incomplete entry forms will be rejected.

As one should expect with any festival: any materials (DVDs, press kits, thumb drives, etc.) sent to the festival are nonreturnable and any fees paid (entry or otherwise) are nonrefundable. The LCIFF, its officers, staff or volunteers are not liable for any loss or damage to these or any materials compromised, these are solely the responsibility of the filmmakers. We were honored to be selected by Lake Champlain. Jason and his team showed great care in the films they selected for this year's festival. They were excellent communicators throughout the process. Sadly, because of a last minute issue, we were unable to travel to the festival, but Jason gave us a first-hand account of the proceedings. It was the next best thing, and we hope to be involved in future festivals with this great team!

This is a small town festival that looks toward the world, run by cultivated locals who love film and its social dimension. The historic venue is beautiful and well equipped and everything within central Plattsburgh is accessible by foot. I got to meet some exceptional invitees, including Le Ly Hayslip, the writer of Oliver Stone's "Heaven and Earth". The organizers were very welcoming, were very responsive from the moment my film was accepted, and made sure the filmmakers present would engage with the audience. I was very fortunate to be there and I would love to go back.

Festival is in great hands wiith staff like Jason Torrance who will always promptly reply to your questions. I was also pleased that they are very open minded and include experimental films in their programming.
I wish them the best of luck in coming years and thank them for accepting my film, which in such a early stage of my career gave my confidence a great boost . Looking forward already for next season.

Great films make a great film festival. So, thank you for doing your part!

  • The folks at Lake Champlain are amazing... They are filmmaker and film lover run so they have a great respect for the work... The Strand Theater which is in the process of being renovated is beautiful and the projection system and sound is among the best i've seen at festivals... Each film in the festival plays at the Strand, so the whole film festival takes place on one screen so you're screening isn't competing with other festival screenings...

The staff are friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is casual and relaxed... Their focus on community both locally and globally is nicely balanced... Their outreach for the festival was great with good solid crowds for every screening i had the pleasure to attend...
