The sleeper
At night, she lays her hand on mine,
smiles at me, soothes me,
tells me stories until dusk.
Then I follow the path of dreams,
where the mind has its own quiet way of burning.
Along that uncertain alley,
she gently gathers the fire, warms it in her hands, and offers it to me,
as I watch a spark warm my heart.

Flore Chudeau is a French artist and filmmaker based in Paris. Born in 1997, she graduated from the University of Paris Cité in 2019 and from the HEAR (Strasbourg) in 2024.
Using diverse mediums such as video, writing, sound, and even photography, Flore Chudeau explores psychic realities and the infinite possibilities that the video medium offers to express them. Emanating from the unconscious (dreams, fantasies, memories, etc.), these realities unexpectedly uncover traces and ghosts. Deeply influenced by cinema, her films become a way of coping with torments, thus weaving healing tales from the depths of the psyche.
Through video and writing, I enjoy questioning our psychic realities—those immaterial, invisible realities that stem from the unconscious and are unique to each individual. I am interested in exploring how dreams, fantasies, and memories reveal traces that imprint themselves on our psychic lives. What truly fascinates me is psychic suffering and the possibilities for alleviating it. In my work, this is expressed through the creation of films and writings that blur the line between fiction and documentary, between the real and the imaginary, between reverie and naturalism. Making films becomes a way of crafting healing stories, offering a form of care and comfort to my characters, who are often played by or inspired by people from my surroundings. It’s about creating a parallel reality in which we can explore our psychic realities and perhaps even gain a sense of agency.
