La Toma
In the mountains of northern Cauca, a community of ancestral traditions resists and sets an example of sustainable economy, belonging and survival, through the trade they know how to practice since they were in their mothers' wombs: mining. Preserving the ancestral gold mining traditions, they also preserve their territory, their culture and ensure a promising future for future generations. Owners of a history full of difficulties that goes back to the colony, the inhabitants of La Toma, a community in the municipality of Suárez, are living testimony of the scope of identity, the sense of belonging and social cohesion as weapons to defend their territory of large-scale technical mining that is making its way in the country.

Sebastián Ocampo: Director and documentary filmmaker born in Popayán, Cauca. He studied Film and TV at the National University of Colombia where he found his great passions between cinematography and documentaries. His constant contact with the territory, thanks to the work of Enrique Ocampo, his anthropologist father, has given him the opportunity to share experiences and stories of wonderful people, whose daily life he wants to show to the world. He has been working with vulnerable communities in rural areas of Colombia for more than 5 years, telling the stories of resilience and resistance that are experienced in the territory.
