TERMS AND CONDITIONS
La Sur Real Film Festival is a non-competitive festival that welcomes artists and creators of audiovisual works of up to 20 minutes in length to participate in its 2025 edition. Our main screening event will take place in Berlin during the summer, and throughout the year, we will run an extended exhibition circuit in different cities, depending on available opportunities. Past editions have included screenings in cities such as Leipzig, Frankfurt, Hannover, Venice, Bogotá, and London. Selected films may be included in these additional screenings, expanding their reach to new audiences and cultural spaces.
Our 2025 edition is interested in screening documentaries from the Global South, indigenous futurism, animation, experimental and short films for kids; We are looking for works that represent bodies in resistance and narratives that confront the world in counter-hegemonic ways; stories related to solidarity, cooperation, diversity, gender, environmental/climate justice, territorial struggles, migration, exile and everything that is both inspiring and uncomfortable for the establishment in the multiple Global South.
We will also have a special eye on those audiovisual or film creations that are made in the framework of community film festivals in Abya Yala.
If you want to participate, Please read attentively the following:
1.Be on time. The call for entries is open from 17.03.2025 until 17.04.2025.
2.When. The first screening of the 4th edition of the festival will take place in Berlin, in August.
3.Participants. Independent artists, producers, filmmakers and collectives of any nationality who own the rights to the works they register, over 18 years of age.
4.Premieres. There is no restriction on the exclusivity of the works submitted. They can have premiered in other parts of the world and beyond, have participated in other contests, festivals, screenings, and even be available online.
5.Timing. We accept works lasting a maximum of 20 minutes.
6.Formats. You can send your work in any format, celluloid, video or any other audiovisual support.
7.La Sur Real Film Festival will not select works that have a commercial purpose or concept.
8.Languages. The short films will have to have subtitles in English or in German in case it is not the original language.
9.Categories: Global South Documentaries, Indigenous Futurism, Animation, Experimental, Kids.
10.Calendar. The production dates of the short film must be after January 2023.
11.You can submit as many short films as you want, for that you will have to fill in a separate form for each short film.
12.Selected films. The selection committee of La Sur Real Film Festival will make and announce the finalists during the month of June. The committee's decision will be final.
13.Exhibitions. The selected works may be screened within the framework of the festival in Berlin as well as in screenings in the same format anywhere in the world, with prior notice to the filmmakers.
14.Promotion. La Sur Real Film Festival may use fragments of less than 10 seconds of the selected short films for the production of promotional audiovisual products.
15.La Sur Real Film Festival will not be responsible for the content of the pieces in terms of copyright or licensing. It will be the responsibility of the person signing the submission for any legal implications or copyright infringement.
16.Communication. The directors of the selected short films as well as members of the crew undertake to provide, as far as possible, graphic material, interviews and news for the promotion and dissemination of the short films.
17.Confidentiality. La Sur Real Film Fest undertakes to use the material sent exclusively for private viewing. Under no circumstances will it be used for other purposes, nor will its projection be disseminated by physical, electronic or virtual means outside the events of the circuit.
18.Commitments. The committee of La Sur Real Film Festival is committed to screen all the selected works.
19.La Sur Real Film Festival is committed to communicate the result of the selection whether they are part of the exhibition or not.
20.Acceptance of the rules: When you send us your data and the work in the form, it implies that you have accepted the sections of the present points, as well as the resolution by the organization of any problem not foreseen in the same.
21.When you accept the conditions you allow La Sur Real Film Festival and the organizers to use the information provided for the database for the communication. The information will be protected by national and international laws.
22.Registration. It will be totally free and online.

La Sur Real es un festival de cortometrajes no competitivo que invita a artistas y creadores de obras audiovisuales de hasta 20 minutos de duración a participar en su edición 2025.
Nuestra proyección principal se llevará a cabo en Berlín durante el verano, y a lo largo del año realizaremos un circuito extendido de exhibiciones en distintas ciudades, según las oportunidades disponibles. En ediciones anteriores, hemos proyectado películas en ciudades como Leipzig, Frankfurt, Hannover, Venecia, Bogotá y Londres. Las películas seleccionadas podrán formar parte de estas exhibiciones adicionales, ampliando su alcance a nuevas audiencias y espacios culturales.
Nuestra edición 2025 está especialmente interesada en exhibir documentales del Sur Global, futurismo indígena, animación, cine experimental y cortometrajes para infancias. Buscamos obras que representen cuerpos en resistencia y narrativas que cuestionen el mundo desde perspectivas contrahegemónicas. Nos interesan especialmente historias sobre solidaridad, cooperación, diversidad, género, justicia ambiental y climática, luchas territoriales, migración, exilio y todo aquello que sea a la vez inspirador e incómodo para el statu quo en los múltiples Sures Globales.
También pondremos especial atención en las creaciones audiovisuales y cinematográficas realizadas en el marco de festivales de cine comunitario en Abya Yala.
Si deseas participar, por favor lee atentamente lo siguiente:
1. Sé puntual. La convocatoria estará abierta del 17.03.2025 hasta el 17.04.2025.
2. Fechas. La primera proyección de la cuarta edición del festival se llevará a cabo en Berlín en agosto.
3. Participantes. Podrán participar artistas independientes, productores, realizadores y colectivos de cualquier nacionalidad que posean los derechos de las obras inscritas y sean mayores de 18 años.
4. Estrenos. No existe restricción de exclusividad para las obras presentadas. Pueden haber sido estrenadas en cualquier parte del mundo, haber participado en otros concursos, festivales o exhibiciones, e incluso estar disponibles en línea.
5. Duración. Se aceptan obras con una duración máxima de 20 minutos.
6. Formatos. Puedes enviar tu obra en cualquier formato—celuloide, video o cualquier otro soporte audiovisual—independientemente del formato en el que fue creada.
7. Fines comerciales. La Sur Real Film Festival no seleccionará obras con fines o conceptos comerciales.
8. Idiomas. Los cortometrajes deberán contar con subtítulos en inglés.
9. Categorías. Las obras podrán inscribirse en las siguientes categorías:

Futurismo Indígena
Animación
Experimental
Cine Infantil
10. Año de producción. Los cortometrajes deben haber sido producidos después de enero de 2023.
11. Número de envíos. Puedes postular tantos cortometrajes como desees. Para cada uno, deberás completar un formulario de inscripción por separado.
12. Obras seleccionadas. El comité de selección de La Sur Real Film Festival anunciará las películas finalistas en el mes de junio. Su decisión será inapelable.
13. Exhibiciones. Las obras seleccionadas podrán proyectarse en el marco del festival en Berlín, así como en exhibiciones en el mismo formato en otras partes del mundo, con previo aviso a los realizadores.
14. Promoción. La Sur Real Film Festival podrá utilizar fragmentos de hasta 10 segundos de los cortometrajes seleccionados para la producción de materiales promocionales audiovisuales.
15. Responsabilidad legal. La Sur Real Film Festival no será responsable del contenido de las obras en términos de derechos de autor o licencias. Será responsabilidad de la persona que inscriba el cortometraje garantizar el cumplimiento de la normativa legal aplicable.
16. Comunicación. Los directores y equipos de los cortometrajes seleccionados se comprometen a proporcionar, en la medida de lo posible, material gráfico, entrevistas y noticias para la promoción y difusión de sus obras.
17. Confidencialidad. La Sur Real Film Festival se compromete a utilizar el material enviado exclusivamente para visualización interna. En ningún caso será utilizado para otros fines ni difundido por medios físicos, electrónicos o virtuales fuera de los eventos del circuito.
18. Compromiso de exhibición. El comité de La Sur Real Film Festival se compromete a proyectar todas las obras seleccionadas.
19. Comunicación de resultados. La Sur Real Film Festival notificará a los participantes el resultado de la selección, hayan sido elegidos o no para la exhibición.
20. Aceptación de las bases. Al enviar su inscripción y obra, lxs participantes aceptan los términos y condiciones aquí expuestos, así como la resolución por parte de la organización de cualquier situación no contemplada en estas bases.
21. Uso de datos. Al aceptar las condiciones, lxs participantes autorizan a La Sur Real Film Festival y a lxs organizadores a utilizar la información proporcionada para la base de datos de comunicación. La información estará protegida conforme a las leyes nacionales e internacionales de privacidad.
22. Inscripción. La inscripción será completamente gratuita y en línea.
