Director Biography - Sankha Malwaththa

In 2006 I started my career as a 3D Animator & Compositor on ‘BAWATHRA’, Sri Lanka’s first character animated TV Series produced by TELEVIEW (PVT) Ltd, the country’s pioneering TV production company. In 2008 I enrolled in a Diploma in
film making at the National Film Corporation. From that point onwards, I combined my love for editing and passion for
film making and have been working as a film editor.
Up to now I have contributed to more than 150 short films and documentaries. I was awarded best editor in 2010 and won best sound designer award in 2014. Throughout my editing career,
I have collaborated on many local and foreign productions through advertising, TV & film production companies and TV channels I have worked with. I have directed two short films and the ‘Love Park’ (2013) won the jury award at New Delhi. My first feature film ‘Whispering Mountains’ (2023) directed by Jagath Manuwarna was a huge turning point in my film editing career, which was awarded by the NETPAC award at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam, 2023.
