LOI(AN ATLAS OF QUIET RAINS)

Hiren cannot hear or speak. He lives with his old father and takes care of him. The primary relationship that he has in life is with his father. The film focuses on the relationship between Hiren and his father through Hiren’s everyday life and activities.Hiren cooks for his father and feeds him. He takes care of his father’s personal hygiene, cleans him and bathes him. He gives his father water to drink whenever the latter is thirsty. The tediousness of caregiving is highlighted through these everyday caregiving activities that Hiren does for his father. Hiren is around his father most of the time. Sometimes he does not know when his father calls out to him for assistance even if he is nearby because he cannot hear. Hiren’s disability is a challenge for him in communicating with the outside world and sometimes even with his father.
