LINECROSSER
The night is quiet in a former mall, when Zahra is turning her usual rounds. Every single room is quiet, no one other than the young night watchwoman herself is roaming the hallways – until a movement catches her glimpse. Far away a stranger, Adrian, is prowling around, dancing and running as if he were supposed to be there. Time freezes while both Adrian and Zahra are on their own but together, until Adrian has reached the end of his final performance. He steps over the railing, while Zahra oversteps the line that separated their lives and picks up the one thing he left behind: his notebook.
Not sure if it had been lying there to be found or forgotten, Zahra hides the notebook, just to dive deep into the world of a stranger. She follows the traces and clues, steps into Adrian’s pathway, just to feel more of this person and less of her own pain.

Elena Pilar Nyffeler is a Swiss American director and actor. Born in Boston MA USA and raised in Zurich. In 2018, someone close to me took their own life. The search for clues as to why this has happened has shaped and informed this film. A suicide leaves unanswered questions; those affected search for answers from various perspectives. The person who could answer these questions has eluded us, is no more, and we are left alone with our thoughts and figments based on memorys and things left behind. Linecrosser follows Zarah's perspective, accompanying her in the process of overcoming her trauma. Zarah pursues a phantom from whose traces no human being can be reconstructed.
