LIMBO

The film deals with duality, an essential component of almost everything that surrounds us, and
its universal nature. It triggers a surreal journey into the psychological sphere of our protagonist,
where she constantly struggles with her dual identity. She continually tries to make pacts with
her contrasting self and eventually finds a balance. Her journey resembles the interactions
between the basic balance structures of the universe: light and dark, good and evil, life and
death.

Director Statement

While making Limbo, we were focused on connecting the farthest to the closest within our
experience, that is the Universe and the human mind. With our imagery we tried to interlink the
persistent dual nature of both the universe and the human mind and their constant struggle to
reach an equilibrium to assure their existence. The symbolic visuals we used such as the
coexistence of light and dark, a loop of time communicating the repetitive nature of the mind
and the universe, a bonsai that can’t grow up to its natural form, a puzzle which centers around
a time loop, a black hole eating up a star, a kite that can’t fly, a door inside a void space
separating the two selves where every other side is open, they’re all interlinked as all of these
help convey the contradictions and vulnerabilities of human mind and the true nature of all
existence.
