Dreams, desires and expectations are the essential topics of this film, inspired by a true story.
Is it right to continue believing in something even if we do not receive tangible signals of its truth? How much can we rely on our pure feeling about what will happen?
This is a realistic story, set in our day, where the colours of the comedy take on more dramatic tones, as we increasingly perceive the inner confusion of the protagonist, who stubbornly wants to believe in the promise made by a very famous American actor, although he secretly starts having some doubts.
It is a cross-section of life and feelings of a simple man, who has faith in people and believes in his dreams and has been affected and seduced by the "celebrity".
Nicola felt like an elected man and began to dream of a new sparkling life in Los Angeles for himself and his daughter.
Nicola is a positive and romantic character who waits, believes, but at the same time acts: he tries to build his new image that can be useful for the fame of his restaurant, tries to improve his English, prepare his life for himself and for his daughter in America; he lives projected in an imaginary future, but without realizing that he appears naive and ridiculous.
What often happens in the human mind in front of such special meetings it’s very interesting to me: the idea of being chosen and joining, even for a few moments, the life of a famous person, is something that belongs almost to everyone.
Nicola transmits to the external observer a veil of nostalgia and a great tenderness because the "little fortune" he had could turn out to be a boomerang; and almost until the end of the film we are convinced of it.
However, the big question is: do dreams have an expiry-date?
