LEFT ME WITH A LOVE SONG

LEFT ME WITH A LOVE SONG
(Written by Debra M. Gussin)

Got dust on the dining table.
The fireplace is cold.
Our pictures used to line the wall,
now all that’s left are holes.

The kitchen clock tick tocks away
much louder than before.
There’s a box of broken dreams
on the bedroom floor.

(chorus)
You packed all your things, except the ring,
and ran off with my heart.
But the memories that stay with me,
still play on my guitar.

You got the couch, the bank account,
the bed, the books…the dog.
I got a For Sale sign on the lawn.
But you left me with a love song.

(verse 2)
One day, I won’t miss your cheek
resting on my chest.
I’ll never even think about
your warm breath on my neck.

When I need someone to hold me
just like I held you,
I’ll stop myself from wondering
if you miss me too.

You packed all your things, except the ring,
and ran off with my heart.
But the memories that stay with me,
still play on my guitar.

You got the couch, the bank account,
our friends, the fish…the dog.
I got a For Sale sign on the lawn.
But you left me with a love song.

(bridge)
If you wanna know where love goes when it’s gone,
it goes into a love song…

You packed all your things, except the ring,
and ran off with my heart.
But the memories that stay with me,
still play on my guitar.

You got the couch, the bank account,
the dishes and the dog.
I got a For Sale sign on the lawn.
But you left me with a love song.
