Director Biography - Pier Mazzi

Piergiorgio "Pier" Mazzi, born in Rome and now based in Sydney, Australia, is a filmmaker driven by a passion for originality. After earning a Master's in Economics, he chose an unconventional path, diving into the world of storytelling and visual arts.

His filmmaking journey began with the 2019 short film Where Nobody Sees, which he wrote and directed, setting the tone for his career as a director, writer, and producer. Each of Pier's projects strives to challenge conventions and explore new creative horizons.

Beyond film, his artistic pursuits include music and design, both of which shape his meticulous approach to crafting captivating visuals and narratives. Pier continues to push the boundaries of creativity, bringing unique perspectives to the world of filmmaking.

With Leech, I set out to create an engaging and suspenseful thriller that entertains while planting the seeds of a larger, more expansive story. This short film serves as a proof of concept, showcasing a narrative world ripe for exploration in a feature-length format.
My goal with Leech is to strike a balance between gripping thrills and thought-provoking concepts, leaving audiences both satisfied by the short and curious about what comes next. It’s a taste of something much larger—a world waiting to be developed into a feature film that fully unravels the mysteries and stakes introduced here.
It’s my hope that this short sparks the imagination, invites collaboration, and sets the stage for the next chapter in its journey.
