Venkat Subbu (a k a Venkat Bharadwaj), Award Winning Director
A Techie Turned Director, in 1995 he left the country to join a Company in Kuwait as IT Sales Engineer, Till 2017 he worked in the IT Industry , Resigned as Sales Director from a German IT Firm. Travelled to 70+ countries in his expansive career. Had many opportunities to take citizen ship in Key countries But his heart pulled him into the world of films and to India. He always dreamt of cinema and performance arts. Raised in an Artistic Family, Venkat Bharadwaj started directing and performing in skits during School Days and that continued into adulthood. As the Economic Situation of the house suffered, Venkat Planned not to getting into cinema .. HE decided he will realise his dream someday but for now it had to wait...with this in mind he left India in 1995
In 2015 with an interesting thought in mind, he penned a script. What would it be like if there is no water in a Big City Like Bangalore? India..!
Holding on to this thread of thought, he designed and developed the story "A day in the city" which he experimented and shooted and released with a shoe-string budget of INR 11 Lac (15K US$). With water as A hero, the film got little recognition and mostly in
International film Festivals.
As a Director Not sticking to same style of films, he planned to showcase the black days of the Vijayanagara Empire in 1515. comes Bablusha...Bablusha is the name of lord shiva...Bablusha a Periodic Thriller focus of "Kusti" (Wresting ancient Indian Sports) as strong feature in the Film with persistence against black magic which ruled the world and still being practiced by people.
In Dec 2016 Sitting in Tagore Circle Gandhi Baazar, he witnessed several age old people / comman man walking and gabbing about their day to day issues ..he discussed this with his Brother and suggested him to make a clean story and write the dialogues. Venkat gave a creative title "kempirve"(Red Ant) and compared this to a common man. He made Dattanna as Kempirve, who shined in the lead role.
Venkat has a unique style of working where he sticks to the project management skills maps to film making from scripting till the post release collection..
Venkat is also a Hindustani Classical Singer and has completed 3 level exams from akila bharat gandharv vishwa vidyalay mumbai.
He runs an NGO which is certified by government of Karnataka and Govt of India- Earth Awareness Foundation.
