Experiencing Interruptions?

Light Attaching to a Girl

Suffocated by an overbearing father and two older sisters who soak up any attention that comes their way, Clare is desperate to escape. She plans a trip to Iceland by herself where she can experience nature, and make her own decisions for the first time in her life. Light Attaching to a Girl poetically drifts between the interior and exterior life of an adolescent, as she reckons with haunting memories of her childhood even as she takes her first steps into adulthood.

Director Statement

This is a film made by women, to push boundaries of concept and format, and let documentary and experimental film styles seep into the boundaries of a narrative feature. To make a film where we live, about the experiences we share. To nurture and support Laina’s vision as a director.

Our film captures that fleeting moment when a girl becomes a young woman - from a first crush, first independent trip, and how much we need home but yearn to leave. None of us escaped the awkward phases of growing up, or knew exactly who to be and how to figure things out. Neither does Clare.
