KRAUSE (It is Dark Under the Lamp)

This short film explores the dynamics of wisdom in battling evil as a group of college age friends encounter a southeast Asian mythical monster. A small group sets off to stage fake photos of a monster attack in order to win a contest. Discounting the warning received from a wise Korean café owner, they continue on unaware that danger has followed them. In the woods, they quickly find themselves facing a deadly encounter with a vampire like creator they thought was only a myth. The movie ends with a surprising twist. This thrilling adventure features breakout performances, original music and the captivating beauty of the Pacific Northwest. It is fast paced, engaging and incorporates an interest in Korean dynamics while captivating audiences with innovative story telling.

Director Biography - Laura Musgrave

Laura Musgrave is a film director/producer based in Everett, Washington, USA. She has a BSc in Economics, Masters in Business Administration and works in acquisition contracting. She served as President of local chapter of Toastmasters International and has illustrated/published several children's books. After developing a desire to explore her creativity telling stories, she sought out advice from a local, award winning film director. This is her debut film. Her mother, a huge fan of BTS and K-Dramas, introduced Laura to the beauty of Korean language, culture and cuisine. She loves to travel and looks forward to further exploration into the world of filmmaking, directing and video editing.

Director Statement

As a first time film, this was a fantastic experience! Each part was a new adventure; from script writing to auditioning talent, coordinating film locations, networking, finding the right music and editing video footage. It's been a journey of learning and discovery I will never forget. Thank you for watching my film, I hope you enjoy it.
