The KRAMPUS AP SHORT FILM FESTIVAL is a celebration of ancient folklore and lends itself to horror, thriller, dramatic, comedic and animated genres of storytelling. In ancient Yuletide lore the giving of gifts was not the whole story. The goodly elf that we have come to know as Santa Claus had a companion whose responsibility was decidely darker. Krampus was charged with delivering punishment to the those who had been "naughty" during the year. He delivered his "treats" on a sliding scale, from piles of dirt to coal in the stocking to ...well..lets just say it could get a LOT worse.

Krampus is still a part of Austrian and German Holiday traditions and is celebrated with mask making, Parades knowns as "Krampuslaufs" and merry making of a more terrifying nature.

In Asbury Park, NJ December 2-3 2016 is a downtown-wide celebration of KRAMPUS and it opens with the KRAMPUS AP SHORT FF. Short films set the tone for the weekend celebration with all genres of short form storytelling engaging audiences who travel from all around the NY/NJ/PA tri-state area to participate in the events.

KRAMPUS AP is THE alternative holiday celebration on the East Coast. The KRAMPUS AP SHORT FILM FESTIVAL is your opportunity for fun, alternative storytelling through film.

Awards & Prizes

Prizes awarded are indicative of the spirit and vibe of Asbury Park, NJ. Since KRAMPUS AP is a city-wide celebration, prize categories will reflect the benefits of visiting the city.

Rules & Terms

1) Your film MUST be about Krampus. it can be funny, scary, silly, in any genre. It can be about how no one knows what Krampus is or about how you escaped Krampus as a kid. Anything. Seriously.

2) It must be no longer than 10 minutes.

3) By submitting to this festival, you understand that submissions remain the legal property of the Film Maker. Submissions may be used for promotional and marketing purposes and the film maker gives KrampusAP promotional and marketing rights. Because of this in order to be considered each entry must make certain that all rights for images and soundtrack and talent are legally cleared for use.
