Koan
„Koan” is an animation made and invented entirely by myself and created out of single photos. Every shot I act in has been posed frame by frame, which gives the effect of a puppet character and theatrical look of the film. While creating the animation, I tried to limit the usage of the computer to procedures that are actually possible to perform on a film reel, for the reason I am not a supporter of computer effects, due to the fact that these ones will always remain artificial to me. The film is not intended to carry a message or any deeper content, although it may be still found here. However, for its abstract and non-logical structure, knocking your mind out of every-day reality, it breaks patterns and habits in our perception of the world. The film is inspired by the creativeness of the pioneers of stop-motion animation and puppet theatre.

I was born on 23rd October, 1992 in Otwock, Poland. From an early age I have been developing my artistic creativity. After graduating from high school, I took up painting studies that I did not finish. At the beginning I was dealing with painting and drawing, then I took up sculpture and photography. Now I combine these all into stop motion animation, in which I have been interested for years. What inspires me the most are the old kind of animations performed on film cliches, puppetry and object theatre. Currently, I develop my creative skills in various fields on my own and I combine them with animation, which gives me the opportunity of creating unreality that is not available in the theater.
