Director Statement

Despite being visceral, "Knitted Gloves" is a paternal love letter that was born from one of our dreams during a pandemic election period. 'In the dream, I was a child, and my father and I argued. With his shouting, somehow he physically diminished and I grew in some way' (-Rapha Pamplona). Motivated by this dream (or nightmare), we began to question where the place would be to discuss these different points of view: In the cinema or in the ring?

And so this film was born with the purpose of bringing father and son closer together, through what separates them, but also what unites them. The differences between them.

When we sat down to write this story, we decided to embrace the idea of boxing as a metaphor, but to empty the fights to create an emotional curve between the characters in the now, versus each one's point of view in the past to culminate in how this affects the now. And how glory and these open wounds affect this delicate relationship not only between our characters, but also the entire family structure of this nucleus.

And the premise of creating the characters was to try to illustrate the points of view and contradictions of this conservative father in contrast to a progressive son in a polarized society that converses with a large part of the world to invite the spectrum to reflect and see itself in some of these roles. And against the current of dialogue, we focused on building an unexpected ending focused on an ethical dilemma through the story of the brother/son who motivated this confrontation."
