Originally from Taiwan, New York City-based documentary filmmaker Hsuan-Yu Pan loves to explore human stories through her camera lens.
"Hear, Eat, Home: Kinan's Vision" is an introduction to my feature documentary "Hear, Eat, Home". The movie tells the story of NYC based immigrant musicians and artists on how they find joy in life through music, food, and friendship, despite the struggle of being away from their homeland. In this short film, I invited artists from the Silkroad Ensemble. Many of them are immigrants pursuing freedom and art in NYC, a place they now call home.
As an immigrant living in NYC myself, I found Kinan's insights on home and identity very inspiring. I hope it can help those who have migrant experience find comfort.
