Private Project


Film deals with the loss of status and identity Yasmin and Khalid experience in Turkey, after they left their homeland, war-torn Syria. While Khalid works as a bootblack in Turkey, he was a teacher in Syria. Yasmin works as a baby sitter in Turkey.
After Yasmin lives on her own in Turkey for a while, she makes attempts for bringing her husband Khalid from Syria. Khalid arrives Turkey, but he doesnot face with the life he hopes for. Khalid and Yasmin struggle to get temporary protection ID in Turkey. As they try to make a living without their identities and professions in Syria, their past traumas emerge.

Director Biography - Gözde Sezer

After receiving her B.A. in Business Administration at Pamukkale University in 2012, she worked in the private sector. While she was working at a bank, she entered the university entrance exam again and passed the exam for Editing, Sound Design and Cinematography Department of Dokuz Eylul University Fine Arts Faculty. She finished Creative Drama Leadership training course at Contemporary Drama Association and worked as a creative drama instructor both on voluntary and professional basis for awhile when she was studying at Fine Arts Faculty. She attended documentary film workshop led by Ümit Kıvanç at Documentary Film Days organized by Human Rights Foundation of Turkey, film production workshop organized by Association in Solidarity with Refugees and film production workshop organized by İzmir Cinema House. She still continues her education at Fine Arts Faculty and makes short films.
