Nadja (Johnson) Simmons is the youngest of her siblings, born March 14, 1980 to the late Clarence Johnson II and Betty A. Johnson. Nadja was educated in the Kansas City Missouri schools, and graduated early, ahead of her class in 1998 from Van Horn High School. Immediately following graduation, Nadja married her high school sweetheart, the late Marcus Deon Brown, Sr., and to this union Marcus Deon Brown, Jr. was born.
After experiencing the sudden, tragic loss of her husband, and faced with the reality of raising their two-month-old son alone at the age of 19, Nadja refused to allow that to stagnate her Life. She went on to pursue continued education in Nursing and Law.
From the age of 6, Nadja has always pinned her thoughts on paper; as a result, in 2000, she was blessed to publish her first book, Widowed at 19, which was on Barnes and Nobel’s top seller list for several months. A couple years later, she wrote, If Misery Could Talk: The Untold, and later throughout the years she went on to write Kids Pray Too, Salvations Covering, A Point Of Contact-A collaborated relationship book with her Husband, and the most recent “The Story Book”- A collaborative story book written by 6 Women from 6 different walks of Life.
In November 2009, Nadja’s passion for nursing the physical, spiritual, and mental health of hurting and abused women gave her the idea of founding the B.A.R.E. house, (an acronym for Beautiful women, At-a-glance, Walking in restoration, with Expectation), located in the converted house where she grew up. An extension of her work with these women has lead to the birth of B.A.R.E LINKS Learning Center, a not-for-profit that caters to tutoring children, hosting alcohol anonymous (AA), and cocaine anonymous (CA) classes, as well as various other community outreach projects.
Nadja & her First born child Marcus Brown has also collaborated in business with their upcoming organization M.A.N.A. Whole Life that is centered around the Mind, Body, Will & Emotions. M.A.N.A. Whole Life will be able to house and offer assistance to what they call “The Whole Family” & the Elderly in need. M.A.N.A. Whole Life first property project was purchased in 2020 with expectations of many more to come.
Although she is very reserved, Nadja has a heart for ministry and people, and has been blessed to speak on several platforms to children, teenagers, and adults of all genres about her life and the testimonies she has lived through.
Today, Nadja is happily married to Daniel Simmons since 2003. Together they have raised six wonderful, gifted children: Marcus, Delshawn, Domonique, Prayse, Parrys, and Londyn.
